Meghan Markle’s Netflix Series: The Untold Story Behind the First Scene and a Glimpse Into Her Quiet Montecito Life

The first scene Meghan Markle filmed for her Netflix series With Love, Meghan didn’t actually appear until episode 5 — a surprising detail revealed by the show’s director, Michael Steed.

Speaking to People, Steed shared that Meghan’s flower shop visit was the very first scene they shot. “It was such a fun moment—watching her pick out flowers and explain how she thinks,” he said.

Interestingly, Steed admitted his favorite moments weren’t those spent in the kitchen—where Meghan is often shown—but during creative activities like flower arranging and gift wrapping. “Those were the most fun for me,” he said. “That’s when she really got lost in what she was doing, and it felt like the camera disappeared.”

Steed also highlighted Meghan’s work ethic, noting, “Everyone has their own version of her, but she’s always hustling and working. I wanted to create a space where she could relax, and I’m glad we captured moments where she showed a different side of herself.”

Though the cozy indoor scenes weren’t shot at Meghan and Prince Harry’s Montecito home, the serene chicken coop, buzzing beehive, and lush garden moments were filmed on their actual property.

“They’ve created a little slice of paradise,” a crew member told People. “It’s so peaceful and calm—she has a lovely life there, and it was special to get a small glimpse of it.”

The crew even got a sweet surprise now and then, as Meghan’s children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, would pop by the set. “She was so attentive and loving,” the crew member added. “We gave the kids headphones so they could listen in on the audio.”

A beautiful mix of work, creativity, and family life—With Love, Meghan offers a rare peek behind the curtain of the Duchess’s world.
