Get ready, “Emily in Paris” fans—Season 5 is almost here, and this time, Emily is trading croissants for gelato! The new season of the hit Netflix romantic comedy will begin filming in May, starting in beautiful Rome before heading back to Paris later in the summer.
Emily’s Love Life Gets Even More Complicated
Lily Collins returns as the stylish and ever-romantic Emily Cooper, and this season, she’s got three love interests to juggle! Alongside her longtime flings—French chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and British banker Alfie (Lucien Laviscount)—there’s a charming new Italian guy, Marcello, played by Eugenio Franceschini. Marcello is the confident heir of a luxury cashmere brand from a dreamy village near Rome. Sounds romantic already!
What’s Season 5 About?
Netflix is keeping most of the plot under wraps, but here’s what we know: The season picks up just days after Season 4 ends. Emily is now living in a stunning apartment in Rome, helping run Agence Grateau’s Italian office. Alfie has moved on with a new girlfriend, and things between Emily and Gabriel are… still messy.
Tired of Gabriel’s drama and his weird connection to his ex-Camille, Emily starts getting close to Marcello. But just when things are going well, Gabriel has a change of heart—and shows up at her doorstep in Rome! Talk about a cliffhanger!
Who’s Returning (and Who’s Not)?
Most of the favorite cast members are coming back, including:
- Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu as Sylvie (Emily’s fashionable boss)
- Samuel Arnold as Julien
- Bruno Gouery as Luc
- William Abadie as Antoine
- Ashley Park as Mindy (Emily’s best friend)
But not everyone is returning. Camille Razat, who played Camille, will not be back this season. And we don’t yet know if Thalia Besson, who played the tricky Geneviève in Season 4, will return either.
Behind the Scenes Drama?
Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel, recently said in an interview that he doesn’t always relate to his character anymore. He joked that Gabriel has been “turned into guacamole” because of how much he’s changed since Season 1. Still, Bravo is coming back, and so is his character’s fancy Michelin-starred restaurant.
Bigger Than Just a Show
“Emily in Paris” has become a cultural phenomenon, so much so that even French President Emmanuel Macron talked about it! He said France would “fight hard” to keep the show filming there. That sparked some playful competition with the mayor of Rome, who’s excited about hosting part of the new season.
Coming Soon
Season 5 of “Emily in Paris” is expected to premiere later this year on Netflix. With new cities, new fashion, and new romance, it looks like Emily’s Italian adventure will be her most dramatic yet.
Stay tuned—la dolce vita is just getting started!
