Jensen Ackles has officially finished filming his upcoming action series Countdown! The Supernatural star took to Instagram to share the exciting news, posting behind-the-scenes photos and celebrating with his co-stars Violett Beane and Uli Latukefu. But the real surprise? Ackles teased a possible Countdown season 2, telling fans he hopes to “see you all for season 2.”
Ackles stars as an LAPD officer who joins a secret task force to solve a murder tied to a much bigger conspiracy. The high-stakes action series is led by One Chicago co-creator Derek Haas and features a talented cast, including Euphoria‘s Eric Dane, All Rise‘s Jessica Camacho, and Young Rock‘s Uli Latukefu.
Filming started in September 2024 and wrapped after six months, suggesting the show’s action-packed scenes and practical effects took time to perfect. Now, all eyes are on post-production. While there’s no official release date yet, a late 2025 or mid-2026 premiere seems likely.
Ackles isn’t slowing down anytime soon! Along with Countdown, he’ll return as Soldier Boy in The Boys season 5, expected in 2026. He’s also set to lead his own The Boys spin-off, Vought Rising, a prequel exploring the rise of superheroes in the 1950s.
With so many big projects lined up, Countdown will need the perfect release window to avoid competing with Ackles’ other shows. But one thing’s for sure—fans are in for an action-packed ride!
