Rosamund Pike has shared a hilarious and awkward moment from her first-ever film role — and it involves none other than James Bond himself!
The actress, now 46, made her movie debut in the 2002 Bond film Die Another Day, playing the mysterious double agent Miranda Frost. While chatting on David Tennant’s podcast David Tennant Does a Podcast With, Rosamund opened up about filming a steamy scene with Pierce Brosnan, who played 007 at the time.
In the scene, the two stars were lying on a luxurious swan-shaped bed covered in fur rugs. Rosamund, who was just 23 during filming, said she wore body tape and nipple covers under her costume. But things got awkward when, after each romantic take, she noticed hair sticking to the tape.
“We’d separate after a take, and I’d look down and see all this hair stuck to the tape,” she said. “I was horrified — I thought I was accidentally waxing Pierce Brosnan’s chest with every hug!”
Thankfully, it turned out the hair wasn’t from Brosnan at all — it was from the fake fur on the bed. “I felt so bad, thinking, ‘He’s being so brave while I pull out his chest hair!’ But then we realised it was the bed shedding,” she laughed.
Rosamund also praised Brosnan, who was 49 at the time, calling him “an absolute gent” during the entire shoot.
She also shared a fun memory from her audition. Not knowing much about Bond films, she showed up wearing her mother’s elegant concert dress. “They said, ‘That’s a lovely dress, but Bond girls wear something more like this,’ and handed me a shimmering, sexy gown instead,” she recalled.
Despite the unexpected wardrobe switch — and the fur bed confusion — Rosamund nailed the role and went on to have a successful career in Hollywood.
Just goes to show: even James Bond scenes come with a little behind-the-scenes comedy!
