The Russo brothers, known for directing some of the biggest Marvel movies, are back in the MCU to lead Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. But aside from superhero action, they’re also talking about the future of filmmaking—specifically, the role of artificial intelligence (AI).
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Anthony Russo shared his thoughts on AI, calling it a “valuable tool.” He explained that while AI can help in the creative process, it’s important that artists stay in control of how it’s used.
“We have to approach AI the same way we approach all new technology,” he said. “It’s a tool that can play a valuable role in filmmaking, but artists should always be the ones guiding it.”
Joe Russo also weighed in during an interview with The Times, revealing that they already used AI in their latest Netflix film, The Electric State, for voice modulation. He pointed out that AI technology is becoming more common in Hollywood, even if many aren’t openly talking about it.
“There’s a lot of fear because people don’t fully understand it,” Joe explained. “But AI is going to be used more and more in filmmaking—it’s just a matter of time.”
Their comments hint that AI could play a role in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. While AI in movies is still a hot topic, the Russo brothers seem to be embracing it as part of the future of Hollywood.
What do you think—should AI have a place in filmmaking?
